Hi5 Flash Embed Whitelist

At Hi5 we are committed to protecting our users from malicious content.  To achieve that goal we instituted a whitelist for flash-based embed codes typically used in widgets.  This filter is applied to embedded flash content that is manually entered in the Lifestyle, Interests and Background sections of a user profile.

Prior to this system we would find that spammers and phishers would place flash embeds in fakes profiles that would redirect users to inappropriate sites.  The whitelist has eliminated this, plus it lets us temporarily disable a site if we find that the partner is having problems with embedded attacks.

Since then Hi5 has instituted a Widget API that eliminates the need for a whitelist.  This is the preferred way to post embed content to a user profile.  We urge content providers to use this API.  You can read more about the API in our Developer Center.

At the same time we understand that many sites have code that posts widgets directly to a users profile.  If you would like to see your flash-enabled widget site added to our whitelist, please send email to api-request@hi5.com with the following details:
