We at hi5 are deeply committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our community members. We've built many safety features into our site to provide you with a full set of privacy options so you can protect yourself online, but there are also some easy things YOU can do to protect yourself and ensure a safe and secure social networking experience:
1.) Make your profile PRIVATE to only your friends, family and colleagues by going to profile privacy settings." This way only the people in your network will have access to your personal information, photos, groups, messages, comments, etc.
[Privacy - Profile Settings - My Profile Can Be Viewed by my Friends Only]
2.) FLAG anyone who is abusing your profile, posting pornographic photos, or making malicious or harmful comments by clicking on the link to Report Abuse or by emailing hi5's customer service division at help@hi5.com
3.) BLOCK unwanted visitors. Go to the profile of the person you wish to block and clicking the Block User link. This will prevent them from contacting you through hi5, sending you a friend request or posting anything to your profile.
4.) Think before POSTING photos. Avoid photos that allow people to identify you (for example, when they're searching for your school) or contain especially suggestive images. Before uploading a photo, think about how you'd feel if it were seen by a family member, college admissions counselor, or future employer.
5.) CHECK COMMENTS regularly. If you allow comments on your profile, check them often and don't auto-accept comments from everyone. Don't respond to mean or embarrassing comments or emails. Delete them, block offensive people from commenting further and report the abusive person to hi5. Never respond to emails from strangers who ask personal questions.
Most importantly, never meet with STRANGERS offline. If you must meet an online friend, arrange the meeting in a public place, during the day and bring a parent or other adult along.
We will continue to work to make our site even safer by creating new features and educating you about online safety. If you have questions, our multilingual customer service group can quickly respond in both English and Spanish.
Please practice safe social networking!
